Kurdish filmmaker Bahman Qobadi has been selected for the jury of the 55th Donostia-San Sebastian International Film Festival, which will be held from September 20 to 29, MNA reported.
Last year, Qobadi's movie "Half Moon" won the festival's Golden Shell for Best Film. In addition, the film's cameraman, Nigel Bluck, was awarded the gala's Jury Prize for Best Photography.

Qobadi, 38, is the founder of MijFilm, a company which aims at supporting Kurdish filmmakers. He made his debut film "A Time for Drunken Horses" in 2000, which received the Camera'd'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. His "Turtles Can Fly" represented Iranian cinema in the category of Best Foreign Language Film at the Annual Academy Awards in 2005. This movie also won the Golden Shell for Best Film at the San Sebastian film festival in 2004.
In addition, Qobadi's latest feature "Half Moon", which is a joint production of Iran, Iraq, Austria, and France, was selected to represent Iraqi cinema in the Oscar race in 2007.
